Why Support Learn with Care

Select Learn with Care for transformational support.

Support children’s safety

Today many children are still beatet at school in many countries. Your support can help us change it – and foster safety and care.

Connect with your heart

Connecting with our heart is not something that we learn anywhere – with this project we aim to connect teachers and students to their hearts for a calm and caring classroom.

Care on the school schedule

Teachers and students practice tools and exercises that can help them not only in school but also in general in life to deepen care for themselves and share with others.

Many teachers and students suffer

Stress, difficult emotions, mental load and other challenges make life at school hard. There is a path that we guide and walk together.

Results and next steps

We are deeply grateful for all the donations we have had so far including 2 computers from a Danish company and 2 books from TedX speaker and book writer for children Gitte Winter Graugaard. The donations we have received have been a big help on achieving our results so far.

Results we have achieved so far:

  • Sticks are rarely seen in the class rooms anymore
  • So far it is evaluated a decrease in beating – and it only happens in rare cases. We continue to follow up and learn
  • One day a mother was at the school with her child. She was beating the child, and then a teacher came and said to the mother that at this school we do not beat the children.
  • We have had important meetings with the teachers to educate and increase awareness on the problem, and why the teachers are important for the success of the project. We have addressed challenges and continue to learn.
  • We have started a Teacher Training Program for teachers to help them slow down and take care.
  • We have made posters for class rooms with insights and guides for exercises that help to decrease stress and thereby decrease the risk for beating.
  • Online TV interview at Zanzibar to put awareness on the problem.
  • We have bought pillows for the children for comfort fx when they are sick or in a difficult situation.

Our next goals:

  • Develop the Teacher Training program online – first videos and in time with more funding we will build an online platform that we intend to help not only in Africa but internationally.
  • Create a room for teachers at Zanzibar School of Hope. There can be a very stressful atmosphere at the school so we will create a place where teachers can calm down and take care.
  • Buy digital equipment for Zanzibar School of Hope to support that we can share videos with them to guide them for exercises to help slow down and decrease the risk of beating. Many teachers have phones that cannot show videos and there is no projector at the school for sharing videos.
  • Start a pilot project in Denmark/Europe with shools.

Heartfelt desire to empower caring learning

“In Summer 2023 I was a volunteer in a school in Zanzibar in Tanzania. I witnessed children got beaten by a teacher for making mistakes in class. This connected me to my calling and initiated my heartfelt mission to empower caring learning for the children.

Statements

Explore the impact of Learn with care through heartfelt stories of change from our dedicated supporters. Become part of the transformation!

“The government in Tanzania says stop beating but what do we then do?

Learn with Care shares the path. I call this the moyo project. The heart project because we need our hearts to change. As it is our hearts that is the reason to stop eating delicious food during the daylight of the Ramadan, so it is our hearts that help stop beating.

I already witness changes. The other day a mother beat a child at the school. A teacher came and said to the mother that at this school we do not beat the children.

In Zanzibar School of Hope we have a pilot project to create safe and caring learning for the kids and good performance in the class. “

“We at School of Hope want to lead the way to empower learning without beating. This project has awakened us. I believe Gud helped me to be in this project.

I already see changes. Before the teachers were walking around with the sticks and I rarely see that anymore. “
