Pilot project at Zanzibar School of Hope

We have started a pilot project at Zanzibar School of Hope and already see progress. Teachers rarely walk with the sticks and one day a mother was at the school with her child. She was beating the child, and then a teacher came and said to the mother that at this school we do not beat the children.

The journey to stop beating and create care is in progress, and we have started a Teacher Training Program to educate in safety and care for the the teachers and for the children. The energy the teachers bring into the class room influence the children. Are the teachers calm the students will be more calm.

It’s also from a stage of being calm that teachers and students are in better contact with their hearts and then able to create care both for themselves and others.

2015

Mr. Coco started the school in 2015.  Mr. Coco was back then teaching around 18 students in Nungwi Village under a tree. Today it’s a school with several class rooms.

3-7 years old

The children at the school are 3-7 years old and devided into different classes. Each class where a uniform.

Helping children

Many children never go to school because their parents do not have enough money so mr. Coco started the school for children from poor families.

Maono Foundation

Maono Foundation runs the school. The foundation is established to support the Nungwi village where many children are suffering from lack of opportunities.

Statements from the school

Explore the impact of Learn with Care through heartfelt stories of change at the school. Become part of the transformation!

“The government in Tanzania says stop beating but what do we then do?

Learn with Care shares the path. I call this the moyo project. The heart project because we need our hearts to change. As it is our hearts that is the reason to stop eating delicious food during the daylight of the Ramadan, so it is our hearts that help stop beating.

I already witness changes. The other day a mother beat a child at the school. A teacher came and said to the mother that at this school we do not beat the children.

In Zanzibar School of Hope we have a pilot project to create safe and caring learning for the kids and good performance in the class. “

“We at School of Hope want to lead the way to empower learning without beating. This project has awakened us. I believe Gud helped me to be in this project.

I already see changes. Before the teachers were walking around with the sticks and I rarely see that anymore. “
